Since traveling and studying in Egypt and Crete in 1990, my work has focused on a blending of astronomical observation, queries about time, archaeology, and historical figures in astronomy and mathematics, with the creation of sculptures in ceramic and bronze. Recent works include sundials, moondiscs, altars, and currently, my fascination with spheres as the most perfect form, has led to a new series based on Greek and Roman Spheres from 300 BC.

Subsequent trips to France and Rome have continued to sustain inspiration for works which pay homage to antiquity while reflecting contemporary themes and their relationship to the universal which define and illustrate my personal mythology. Hence the title of my current ideas revolve conceptually within what I call Spheres of Influence.
Yet the circle is not less round than the sphere, and the sphere is the home and fatherland of circles. Infinite multitudes of circles he enclosed in every sphere, and if they spoke they would say, For us were spheres created. Let no mouth open to gainsay them.C.S. Lewis, Perelandra |
