Dancing
Children
"Circle
of Life"
The
Sonoma County Regional Parks Foundation and the Voigt
Family Sculpture Foundation
art
have commissioned Daniel Oberti to create a sculpture
for the Children’s Memorial Grove at Spring Lake
in Santa Rosa.
Oberti’s design consists of five life size stick-like
childish figures dancing together in a circular form.
Made of steel tubing and animated with gesture each child
is passing a sphere to the next child forming an incomplete
circle.
The open space honors the missing child who has left us.
Any
visiting child or adult can hold hands within the opening
to complete the circle
and
become part of the Dancing Children’s Circle of
Life.
The largest figure is 5’ in height and all the characters
are finished in powder coated bright primary colors.
Oberti
worked with the ART START Program and assistants Michelle
Staykopw and Kyle Alexander
to
create this Public Art Project.
