Ceramic
Sculptor Daniel Oberti lives and maintains his studio in the rural
meadows of western Sonoma County, California. His commissions are
architectural in content and scale, and include fountains, entry
foyers, bathrooms, kitchens, walkways, fireplaces, and garden oriented
artifacts.
His
work is expressive yet refined, and embodies mythological symbolism,
exquisite figurative characters, and Old World Craftsmanship with
a high level of authority, creativity, and integrity. When commissioned,
Oberti's sensibilities often integrate his patrons aesthetics
within the architectural context of any given design challenge.
He feels strongly that each clients heritage, lifestyle, and belief
systems are important considerations that can influence and inspire
inclusion in his design process.
Completion
of his Master of Arts degree under Herbert Sanders began a successful
exhibition career with numerous awards, invitationals, and one
man shows. He has taught at City College of San Francisco, and
lectured and demonstrated for several colleges and art institutions.
He has a truly cosmopolitan flair and knowledge of ceramic forms
and traditions from throughout the world. Oberti's recent works
blend his early studies of Japanese form
with his current interest in his own Mediterranean heritage. Recent
travels in France, Italy, Egypt, Crete, and Athens inspire and
stimulate his fresh perspective on Ancient Wisdom.
Oberti's
contemporary works embrace universal concepts about time, space,
reverence, and beauty. His pieces evoke a sense of harmony that
reflect humanity's relationship to symbols
and forms that uplift our spirits, and instill a tenor of contemplative
solace.
Recent
commissions and the current demand
for Oberti's sensitive and inspirational works are the natural
reflection of his commitment to artistic excellence.
Regarding
current works, Daniel Oberti writes:
Time, measurement, celestial observation, alchemy, art,
astronomy, and mathematical laws all combine within sculpted ceramic
forms which provoke considerations and thought about the present
moment. My work reflects upon understanding the geometry inherent
in nature, constructs of the intellect, and a synthesis of the
archaic and the contemporary. They exemplify vastly different
physical scales from centimetres and meters to star paths that
are thousands of light years in size.
The
work evolves around forms and visual icons that foster contemplation
of ones assumptions about the passage of time and the insignias
of action, which are Time Essential. My intent is
to create work that reflects upon these mysteries and fundamental
understandings of time, light, and space.
