On the Sundial, the Shadow Catcher, and Current Works at MOCA
A kind of eternal magic radiates from each Sundial, awakening obscure recollections of a past that has now become a vestigial subconscious, reminding man of the time when life was clearly felt to be part of a powerfully animist universe. A Sundial is a living object. It needs no winding and is driven by no weight. It has something to say and says it. It speaks about time, never ceasing to recall the flight of time, its elegance, its tragedy and its irreversibility. Carpe Diem!
These pieces evoke a sense of harmony, reveal humanity's relationship with mythological and modern symbols, archetypes, and sculptural forms that hopefully uplift our spirits and instill a tenor of contemplative solace. I work continuously to satisfy something that eludes me. I am part of a lineage that finds solace in defining oneself by forming works of art that inform and inspire inquiry within. I work to unveil the elusive, and at the same time, I seek an audience and affinity with others who recognize the value of this pursuit. That Star Dancer is You!
